She can sing, too.
Growing up in rural Prince Edward Island, the name Dolly Parton brought one thing to mind: Huge boobs. It sounds crass, but it's true. She worked her assets like Barbra does her nose. Dolly's cleavage was extra exciting to a young man in a community of tightly stitched necklines and white clapboard churches. Her music was secondary; but it was everywhere, a constant reminder of her real claim to fame. Back then I worked an 11-hour Saturday shift packing groceries and pumping gas at the community store. A tinny AM radio was always tuned to the country station, tucked in at the check-out between the fly stickers and cartons of Craven A. Dolly was always there too, accompanied by the subconscious hum of the owner's wife who worked the quiet closing shift from 6 to 9. Islands in the Stream takes me back to those exciting days of leaded gas and $3/hour. It's almost romantic now.

This morning I caught my wife Suzy humming to a Dolly song as we waited for our breakfast in an intimate downtown diner. I felt warm. We're downloading Dolly's hits this afternoon, and I have an odd urge to see her in concert. It's not just the boobs anymore, Dolly and I have a history.

Suzy and I are celebrating our third anniversary next week. The day was perfect. We found out the next day, however, that it was almost spoiled by a 2 km wide meteor that nearly smacked into the planet as we exchanged vows. Talk about a party pooper. This kind of armageddon scenario seems more and more likely as we pay attention. What do you have planned for Feb 1, 2019? Fireworks? Track the latest rock.

I'd ask again today, hon.

Someone found this old link on-line. I didn't know it was still live. Great memories of an exciting day. See photos of Engagement Day 1998. See she said Yes.
