About
Walden Cabin Contact
the cabin: Walden Cabin is an intimate retreat on a replanted ten-acre clear-cut in rural Prince Edward Island. The cabin and bath house were built in the spirit of Henry David Thoreau's Walden, a rustic 19th century Massachusetts cabin where the American environmentalist/philosopher retreated from the world to write. >> Walden Cabin (PEI) is available for rent from June-November. Walden Cabin in Prince Edward Island (Canada) is a creation of Stuart Hickox, an Ottawa, Ontario-based writer and communications consultant. Stuart's work has appeared in Reader's Digest, Maclean's, The Globe and Mail, The Ottawa Citizen, and The Guardian. Stuart's company, Accolade Intermedia, has served the not-for-profit and government publishing sectors since 1994. Clients include The Library of Parliament, Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, and Action Canada for Population and Development. Stuart's 2002 Reader's Digest Feature, "Legacy of Angus" has been published in 11 languages.
Everything about the cabin was hand-made, except for the skylight over the loft bed. This break from the 19th century was an indulgence of Stuart's interest in amateur astronomy. walden
