I quit my job today. Full circle. One of my first jobs in Ottawa as a wee lad of 19 was at a lighting store at the corner of Bank and Catherine. It's now a Korean grocery store. Despite the fact that I was a dirt poor student, I quit after just one day. In fact, I just didn't show up on day two, or even go back to collect my one day's pay ($5/hour). I was too ashamed to tell my boss why I had to leave: I just couldn't imagine how I could ever stand working with light bulbs all day.
Now I'm going to be Executive Director of my very own
light bulb NGO. It's a booming business. We've got 250,000 compact fluorescent bulbs to move this summer and no time to slack off. I'm still afraid of being dirt poor again; that will never change. But driving home today, I felt young again.

Not that this has much to do with your recent post (but good luck with the ED position!), but I recalled when I last visited Ottawa summer 2005 you suggested a good hangout/bar spot (not that I drink mind you, but I wanted to see some sights!) I was wondering if I might be able to bug you one more time (you can completely ignore this if you'd rather I didn't bug; I won't feel bad) but I'm looking for some decent rental(apartment, small house) in the Ottawa area for the end of this summer into next spring. Any suggestions on what neighbourhoods are better? and do you know of any 'green living' environments. (ie: no carpets, smoke-free) or perhaps some reliable sites online where I might find living rental space.
Thanks for your time.

p.s. YAY for feeling young!
Change is always within reach Stuart.
Believe me, maybe is the brightess idea you ever had. Maybe I am wrong.
I still can't believe you are leaving GG. You are such a devoted man.
Good night, and, good luck...
p.s. You know who I am.
